Hi! My name is Michael. I’m from New Jersey, USA. I have been in foreign language education for 15 years; mainly teaching three different languages in three countries. I have been in and out of Fujian, China for over a decade, primarily teaching and coordinating English as a foreign language for high schools and colleges. My favorite hobby is learning Chinese and favorite sports are swimming and cycling.
Furthermore, I have a M.A. in East Asian Languages and Cultures from Columbia University with a near perfect GPA, a B.A. from the Rutgers University School of Arts and Sciences Magna Cum Laude, TQUK (Official UK qualifying body) Level 5 in Foreign Language Teaching Qualification, have undergone Pearson Edexcel International GCSE in English as a Second Language training, and co-authored four IELTS Handbooks – Reading, Writing, Listening & Speaking. Before joining the FLIS team, I was the Academic Director and Head of the English Team at Xiamen University A Level International High School. I, moreover, have worked as a University English Instructor at several prestigious Chinese universities, such as, Xiamen University Fuzhou University, and Nanchang University. Just after receiving my master’s, I’ve gained some experience in teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language to Americans in New York City. Before coming to China, I was an Elementary School Hebrew Teacher in New Jersey and Elementary School American Curriculum Immersion Instructor in Thailand.
I look forward to assisting students in improving their English and getting accustomed to studying outside of China. Day day study study up up (try to improve everyday)!
